The Lechuza® Story
Horst Brandstätter joined the company in 1952. At that time, the company mainly produced telephones, piggy banks and store articles - initially made of sheet metal, later of plastic - but from 1970 onwards, the long-standing sole owner pursued a completely new idea, which was launched on the market in 1974: Playmobil! And it was so well received that, according to the company, geobra Brandstätter became the top-selling toy manufacturer in Germany within a few years.
With Lechuza® he launched the second Brandstätter success story. It began in 1998: Horst Brandstätter was looking for visually appealing yet functional planters for his private use - and found no product that convinced him. So why not make it himself, he thought, and commissioned his team of developers at the Zirndorf site to look for a suitable solution. A two-year development phase followed - from which the Lechuza® product line with its irrigation system finally emerged.
Since its market launch in 2000, Lechuza® has established itself as an expert for beautiful and functional planters made of high-quality plastic. Completely in line with the company philosophy:
